Not sure.. I think daughter helped it escape the sac and wiped it off a little. She wants the duckling to be a drake so she is calling him Prince. Is the belly protruding or is it in? In other words has the yolk sac been absorbed?
Do you think she could try to get Prince stronger? do you have a nutrient feed? If not maybe very small.bugs?Well, daughter did try to leave him with momma, but she's a little too rough as a preemie. Daughter did go out a few times with Prince and momma wants to take care of him. When momma walks and quacks he tries to get up and follow, but is just too weak yet. He still cannot hold his neck up and keep his eyes open. He does quack and open his eyes a tiny bit when the other ducks call.
Want to hear something funny though, I just found out that when momma stole eggs from one of the harlequin ducks, one was also fertile. Daughter says the slope is showing between 1-2 weeks out. Prince was supposed to hatch within these next a few days, but this little one is almost two weeks out.
