Welcome! I look forward to seeing you over at the duck forum! I’m so sorry for your loss of Marge. I definitely recommend getting more ducks, although I’d definitely quarantine them before doing a slow intro with your drake. Maybe check with local farm stores to see if they know anyone who keeps ducks? Or, there’s always Craigslist!

I will say that learned the same lesson (don’t just keep 2 ducks) the hard way as well. I originally started with two (Daphne, my Rouen, and Margie, my Pekin) early last spring. My Pekin died after a very short illness and Daphne was inconsolable. My husband went out on an emergency duck hunt and got two Muscovy ducklings. We botched the intro and things were a bit rough for a bit, but everyone figured things out eventually and they are now a happy flock of 3.

How many ducks do you have room for? Would you have room for several “wives” for your drake?

Our county says we can have up to 10 chickens. Doesn't say about ducks. Thinking we'd be safe with 4 to 6.

Alfred and Marge had just hit puberty. Figured we'd be having to get a few more females. Would like a variety. Told my husband he's going to have to buy us bigger property. :)
