Hello, I New to chickens and ducks. This is the first year of having both. We have a wide variety of 11 chickens. And 2 cayuga ducks. This has been a learning curve and the chickens have been the easier part. Which brings me to this forum to look for help and answers! Any one else with duck and chickens?

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

We have both; dozens of silkie chickens, and two ducks. The ducks have their own coop, but free range together just fine. We don't have a male though, so if we did, that might present another problem: if one mates a hen, it can kill her.

We're glad you're here!

I have ducks, chickens and a couple of geese. Everyone "free ranges" together during the day and is housed, by species, in their own coops/shelters at night. Chickens do not -- nor do I, really -- appreciate the messiness that waterfowl cause in their houses.

Two of the runner ducks are drakes, and although I know it's possible for drakes to mate with, damage or even kill chickens, my boys are too busy courting their own girls and harassing each other to even notice the hens.

This is a great community of folks who have tons of avian experience and are happy to share what they know. It's good to meet you and learn about your flock. Welcome to BYC!

Hi, as @chrissynemetz said, you'll find a lot of members here that have both chickens and ducks (in addition to other birds). In case you haven't found it yet, here's a link to the Duck forum where you can ask all your questions about them: Duck forum

Thanks for joining us!
