New to gosling raising

Hi,
I have acquired my first ever goslings. They have been with me a wk and are not very tame. They aren't aggressive. Just not friendly. I was advised to hold at them and pick them up. That does not work. Firstly the are too fast and secondly the hate it!

Any suggestions? Any advice much appreciated.

They are outside in a small coop and run. We live I scotland so it's not too hot and not too cold at night

Hi Sarah, congratulations ;-)

I'm new to this too, so take my advice with a pinch of salt. But I read somewhere that they love to be picked up and held close, they just dont realise it; their initial reaction is to try to get away (survival instinct). Persevere with it and I think they will get used to you. This is thr age that you can make a difference.

I have never had goslings only ducks and im new to that too.
How old are they? Two of my ducks I got very young and cause of that loved to be held and the third was alot older and had never been held she didn't like people at all but I was very persistent yet patient with her. She is alot better now but still not the best. I figured out that going down to her level and doing things very solw helpped. I know a duck is different from a gose but maybe it would work the same.

Actually it is about the same, lots of patience and spending time just being with them at their level really helps.. I didn't get my second goose till she was 4 months old and hadn't had much human contact being on pasture with other geese, so it has been a challenge, I have had her since last Aug. and she is still wary of me but will NOW eat out of my hand, which is very much frowned upon here but I felt it was a trust issue with her. She wouldn't dare climb in my lap and I'm okay with that, I have dachshunds for that, but I do want her to trust me. Don't give up just don't expect them to be like a puppy,
