Hi everyone,

I started raising chickens about 10 yrs ago and I'm still learning every day.
I raise LegHorns, New Hamsphire Reds, Road Island reds, Black with white, solid Black chickens.
My huband refuses to kill one for Dinner so I just collect eggs and hatch baby chicks to sell.
I've learn so many things about egg's, how to dehydrate them, freeze them, candle them, and mercy the oh so many ways to cook with them. lol
I haven't mastered a method on boiling/peeling them so you got a trick I'd love to give it a try.
My worse experience so far was a dog getting into the pen and killed all 60 chickens + 3 ducks.
I lost it when I looked out the window and saw the dog. Running outside with shotgun he saw me coming and got away. He didn't eat the chickens he just ran around the pen killing them.
It was so horrible!!
I look forward to hearing from others about their chicken experiences.

Thanks,

Bonnie

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!:frow Glad you joined the flock! BYC is a very informative and fun site for people who love chickens, ducks, turkey, quail, etc.. Sorry to hear about your horrible experience! Especially when it came to that many birds being killed! Hope your flock is doing great and hope you have a wonderful time on BYC!

Do you know who owns the dog? The only thing I can think of is to surround your coop, run etc. with electrified fencing. Usually one good jolt and the animals won't come back.

What a heart breaking experience. If you could also set up a game camera, you may get proof of that dog doing the carnage.
