We have had egg layers for about 10 years

(3) What breeds do you have?
mixed
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
getting the eggs - we did this for the grandchildren

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
many

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

We want start raising meat birds for our family and I need more info on the subject.

I think most people usually grow their meat birds separately from the egg layers, as their needs are so different. I'm also in the researching process and would like to raise our own meat someday. Here's a couple articles that may help familiarize you...
