Yes always better to get things set right before adding valuable eggs. Just monitor it even when good eggs are in depending on where incubator is set up they can fluctuate a bit. Have you candled eggs to know if viable before lockdown?

Might take more than a few min to get that egg up to temp.I’m testing that with one of the eggs I gathered today, that I’m not hatching!! I’m going to give it a few minutes to let it settle and then see what the temp says
Yes I’ve canceled them and all of them were moving around like crazy last night so they are all viable… I’m about an hour into day 19 so I know I need to get them locked down!! Right now they’re in a separate incubator (a no name one from China my mom bought) and that incubator has issues with the temperature being to high on the hatching floor (that heating element is below the heating floor) and the design leads to a high number of chicks falling into the watering chambers and drowning….Yes always better to get things set right before adding valuable eggs. That’s what I’m trying to do but it’s been 20 mins since I put that egg in and I’ve got the incubator digital readout that says it’s 101.5 but at the top of the egg the temp is still reading 96 and isn’t that too low?Good Luck Sounds like you have things under control. You have the longest few days ahead of you just try to let them do there thing, and remember the less interference the better.
Okay that makes sense it was on my counter and with my ac on it’s about 68 degrees in my house. So I’ll let it sit for about an hour and check on it again and see what it’s at! Thanks for all your helpThat is low but it can take awhile for a egg come up to temp depending on its temp before putting it in.
