My hen's first egg hatched today!!! Very exciting! The only problem is that she and the chick are on the opposite side of the chicken house from the nest. She's caring for the chick and so has left the eggs - at least for now. I'm trying to decide if I should do anything or leave her be. Should I try to move the chick back to the nest or move the eggs to her? Or do you think that she will eventually go back to the eggs? How long should I wait? It's getting in the 90's her in AZ.

Thanks for your help!

It is recommended to section off an area of the coop for broodies and new chicks during the hatch. For one, to keep the chicks and hen from wandering from the nest, and for two, to keep other hens from invading. Try putting them back and see if you can contain them. The hot weather shouldn't be an issue at this time as long as your hen has access to water and food.
