I've been wondering the same thing. Here is a pic of the egg in day light so you can see the shape better. I'm also contemplating putting this one flat (how it would lay in a hen's nest). What do you think?
I think the chick would have a better chance no matter which of the 2 options you choose. I think I would go for the laying flat option, Just make sure on the final 18 day turn that the air cell is on top. I would also candle often to see what is happening with it. Please keep us posted.
