Hello I'm New here. I have 8 hens so far. I have a sapphire gem, silver wyandotte, cream legbar, easter egger, turken,2 lavender orpingtons, and 1 houdan. I'm learning as I go and I love my chickens even if the oldest one don't live me. I got my oldest hens as adults I wanted to make sure I would enjoy the commitment of adults before I got attached to babies. I've dealt with mites, bumblefoot and unfortunately prolapsed vent. Right now my houdan Baldy( affectionately named after she burned herself bald on the brooder plate) has a vitamin defiance that's made her toes curl to the left. But my main concern is my turken girl Kenny she has this little raised lump I'm thinking she scratched herself and irritated it but I'm not completely sure. Trigger warning there is small blood amount.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I would start supplementing them with vitamins like Poultry Cell is a good one. You'd put that in their water every other day for a couple of weeks, then once a week after that. There's also granular feed additives like Rooster Booster.

The one with the crooked foot can be fixed with thick tape cut and wrapped to keep the toes straight. If it's young, this may only take a couple of days. If older, it could take weeks, but can be fixed. B-Complex would help in addition to the vitamin boost. Give 1/2 of the human ones, once per day for a week or two. If you don't have any, you can buy the liquid. One full dropper is adult dose, so I'd give 1/2 of a dropper. It's cherry flavored so ours liked it.

If you have Neosporin without pain killer, or some other triple antibiotic ointment, you could dab some of that on the wound. As for the lump itself, you may want to post about that in the Emergency Forum.

Thank you! They've been givings granular rooster booster in their food and I got the b12+ vitamin k from the same brand I've been putting it in the water diluted but also supplementing Baldy with .5 ml with a syringe because I wasn't sure of dosage as far as taping I've tried that and she freaks out so much I'm afraid of her having a heart attack. She did not tolerate it at all. I also cleaned the wound with poultry care vetricyn spray and used silver honey wound care cream. On my turken I just wasn't sure if it was common in turkens or not. Or if it looked familiar to anyone.

The B-Complex is a little better for the foot issue but I'm sure between the B12 and K and the Rooster Booster, it's getting what it needs. Sounds like you're doing a good job with it.

I think I'd post the lump issue in the ER forum though. It could be something else brewing if it keeps growing.
