New to here from Upstate South Carolina

It is so nice to hear everyone stating to talk about spring chicks!
I hope everyone can find what they want this year. Last year some people had trouble getting the breeds they wanted because the hatcheries sold out.
I placed my order the first of Jan. so that I could get the three breeds I want this year. But at the rate that everyone is wanting to buy my started pullets this winter I may raise another bunch of chicks just to have something to sell next winter!
I am going to be hatching out chicks this year from our Welsummers, Barnevelders, Araucanas and probably a few buff Orpingtons. But maybe I will order in more of the sex links.

I am also in Spartanburg, well, more north of Greer up next to the NC state line.
There are a lot of us around the Spartanburg/Greenville area.
I can't name all my breeds but we have a lot. I have adult EE's and about 10 more chicks on the way next month. I also am going to hatch out several from all my blue egg layers as well as cross them with our Araucana roos for the bluest of eggs we can get.
I don't have any RIR but we love our sex links.
BYC is a wonderful place to meet people. Everyone seems to get along so well on here and there are so many really neat people.

Well .. we gotta have someone from Pickens !!

I'm getting back into chickens after having none for about 10 years.. it gets in your blood.. you know ?

I just started being a member. I live in lake Wylie (area) and plan to move to some property( as soon as I find it) in the clover area. I"m brushing up on my chicken common sense and know how as I haven't raised chickens for awhile but want to have a coop.

Brand new to chickens, im in spartanburg, saw my first snake of the season, i think my cat was playing with it. Unfortunately he didnt kill it. I think it was a racer snake, but i really dont know. It got away. I have a five year old son so im a little worried, he loves playing outside. Im worried the chickens will attract more snakes. Will they?, i dont want to get rid of my chickens i havnt had them for long and im alread hooked. I wouldnt be as worried if we didnt have copperheads around here, but we do. Not worried about mice my other cat is a great hunter she left a mouse and a mole near her food bowl this morning. Just dont want anyone to get bit. Animal or human.
