New to me today. Said to be dark egg layers. Please help me figure breed!

One is a Cuckoo Marans and other a Blue Laced Gold Wyandotte :)
Oh boy, I need more help! The lady I bought these from has made a mistake in selling me the Wyandotte. I told her what the results you gave me this morning. She's freaking out and doesn't know which one lays a dark brown egg, the other (besides the Marans) was what she was trying to sell me. Can you tell from the pics she just sent me? She asked if I'd ask my people. 🤣

They both appear to be Easter Eggers!

Do you see any dark egg layers in the 9 pictures?
Unfortunately, no. And cuckoo Marans usually lay lighter brown eggs than the other Marans varieties. They are a nice medium brown, but usually not nearly as dark as the hatcheries advertise. However, my cuckoo Marans hens came from Privett hatchery; it is possible that the Hoovers line is darker. Between the Marans, Wyandotte and Easter Eggers, you should have a pretty egg basket as well as pretty birds.

Do you happen to see a Cuckoo Marans in the last 9 pics? She's certain there is a dark egg layer in that group. She said I could keep the Wyandotte that she mistakenly sold me if she can't figure it out... I'm trying to help her... by asking you guys. Thank you for responding!

Hey there! Please don't judge this set up, I just got them to my house, they'll be in a great setup soon. The lady I picked them up from said she got them at our local feed store, she says Hoover Hatchery is where they get them from and all she knows is that they lay dark brown eggs. Looking at hoover's website, they look like Maran mixes. Is that a thing or do you guys know specifically what these pullets are?
They appear to be pullets, but I don’t believe they are moran… look for black legs and feet,
they lay beautiful dark brown. extra dark braun eggs.

The cuckoo Marans is the black and white pullet in the first 5 pictures. They have pinkish white feet. Not all Marans have feathered feet. (The breed is called Marans even when only referring to one bird.)

I hope I copied these links correctly. If not, you can go to the Hoover hatchery website and get more info on all your breeds. Hoover carries French cuckoo Marans in addition to "regular" cuckoo Marans. The French variety has feathered legs, but both have pinkish-white legs. The website says their eggs are dark brown, but so does Privett's website. When your pullet starts laying, please post an egg photo! If it is indeed dark brown, that will be very good to know.🙂
