I live down in FL. I am looking a getting two backyard turkeys. I have a few questions about turkey's.

Questions-

How big does me coop need to be?

What kind of design should it be? Turkey needs?

What's the best breed for me? Smaller and quiet?

Can they live with chickens? I have three layer chickens and a broiler that won't be around for to long. There in a 5'x9' coop with a raised 4'x3'x2' nesting box. Could I build a big coop to put them all together? What should the design be?

Any places to see pictures of backyard turkey coops?

Thanks for advice and pictures?

Are you supposed to trim turkey toenails. We have a 3yr old tom with some rather curling toe nails? Also do turkeys and ducks fo well with peafowl? Poultry pals in AZ.

Most commerical facilities remove toenails when they are young to avoid this. I learned the hard way that it might be hard to pin a huge turkey down to trim them down. I have had my broad breasted Tom knock the wind out of me with his wings.

I guess we have our work cut out for us as turkey wranglers. His toenails do not seem to impair him. His parents do not have curly toenails. There are many mysteries to learn of. Thank heavens we only have 3 turks, lovely royalpalms. Thanks for info.. twistedfeather and other poultry fans
