Turkeys need a lot more individual room than chickens need.My daughters got me 2 Royal Palm turkeys chick for my birthday. I am planning on putting a perch in a smaller chicken coop which is next my larger one but I am now sure what size to make it. Any suggestions.
Thanks and I am feeding turkey & game bird.Turkeys need a lot more individual room than chickens need.
Baby turkeys are poults.
My adult turkeys roost outside on roosts that are in an area protected from the prevailing winds. The roosts themselves are 4" diameter corral poles at staggered heights from 3' to 6' high.
The higher the roost is, the more room they need to get down from the roosts. Mine can easily land 30' from the 6' roosts.
I hope you are feeding your poults a quality high protein turkey or game bird feed. They need the higher protein, lysine, methionine and niacin these feeds provide for proper growth and development.
