New to raising chickens - have questions about wintering them...

Thanks a bunch henney penny for all the photos! Gives me a lot of great ideas! I love the thing your dh built to keep the water from freezing. Need to get mine to build something like that.

Add heat when i gets to about f20, I'd say. You can also let them free range if you'd like, but if were you I'd keep them in a run with a top with some tarp over it. How about 3 250 watt bulbs?

Thats true woodmort,I`m going to try this winter with no heat lamps,I do worrry about my silkie though,but I have been told that they are just as hardy as the big girls.
