I got four baby chicks. I live in NJ also wondering if the weather is ok for them. Today was a beautiful day and all the chick were bought from supply tractor.Do you have more than one chick? Chickens are social animals and do better in groups of three+. I like @the_peanut_coop 's suggestion. It's best to cover the brooder with wire to prevent the larger animals from getting in. Once the chicks (now pullets and/or cockerels) move to the coop, the cat shouldn't give them any issues, even if it's an outdoor cat. Good luck!
