New to raising chicks.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Back in early December.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 110 chicks. 9 easter egg hens and one rooster. The rest are rooster for meat. Maybe I'm thinking some of them maybe hens but not totally sure yet. I have 38 Black Copper Marans on the way here in the next day or so.

(3) What breeds do you have? Easter Egg and various different rooster that are mixed in breeds. Black Copper Marans are on order.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? A way to earn some extra cash for the farm.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Learning to farm and hunting and fishing.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Engineer and new to farming.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? Searching for a manual for the HDD 112 egg incubator. Does any one have one so I can learn to use mine? It was given to me by a friend but no docs / instructions.

You will definitely get a lot of dark eggs! I raised Black Copper Marans for a breeding program and I had a lot of enthusiasm in the breed! The only difficult aspects of incubating is that embryo development can be very hard to detect caused by the dark shell.
