new to raising quail Help :/

I am getting 40-50 quail eggs and will hatch them in an incubator. How do you incubate them and raise them. Since we can not keep chickens anymore i wanted to raise quail. I hope i have good luck.

The way I did mine was by incubating at 100 degrees still air, with a steady 50% humidity. If they are coturnix they incubate for 18 days, buttons for 16 days, and bobwhites for 23 (I think) days. 3 days before the hatch you bump the humidity up to at least 65%, drop the temp down to 99* and let it ride, so to speak

I brooded my jumbos I just hatched at 98* for the first week. A lot of people lose some due to them piling up, mine did not pile at this temp. You need to have a cage for brooding, as they can fly pretty good at 1 week old! Plus they poo a lot, and if they are walking in it all the time you will have to clean their wittle feets! Much easier to have them on wire!
Make sure you have a quail water base, or a chick waterer with marbles/stones in it. They like to think they can swim

You need game bird starter, as high of protein as you can get. It doesn't matter if it is medicated or not, all I can get is medicated and it does not hurt them. Try to shoot for at least 24% protein, or you'll need to supplement with something else.
Put them on a rubber shelf liner or 1/4" hardware cloth when they are first hatched so they can get their footing and not mess up their legs. Just like with chicks you may need to dip their beaks in their water, but they usually find the food/water on their own.
Oh, they need to be removed from the hatcher no more than 24 hours after they hatch cause they need to eat sooner!

I got a 3ftlong by 2ft wide 12"tall cage I build for brooding after the first week or so. I got 100 eggs in the chick o bator don't know how many will hatch. I'm wondering how many chick I can get into it safely. I will more than likly build another the same size. Going to raise them in the basement untill it get warmer.

YOu'll probably get a 50% hatch, and if you get better than 50% you did something amazingly right!

I noromally get a 50% hatch and am happy with that so anyting better is awesome!
