I just got my first silkie yesterday from a breeder I just me. He told me that she was a pullet. I've read an looked at alot of threads on BYC about people asking for the sex of there silkie. I was trying to figure it out myself but just like alot of members said they're one of the hardest breeds to sex. I keep wanting to say that she is a he but I'm only got a feeling. So I'm asking to the silkie owners who have way more knowledge what do you think? Also what clues or signs do you look for that tells you what it is? So I can learn what I'm looking are in the future.

Thankx

Is that a single comb? If so it might not be pure silkie, or not from good stock, silkies should have walnut combs. Single combs show up on hatchery quality silkies a lot so maybe that's the case. With silkies it is hard, but you can look for streamers, long thing feathers coming off the back of the crest. Only males get these and if you see them you have a male. Males often tend to have crests that have a swept back look to them, while females have a rounded crest.

Yea picture is alil blurry.ill get a better one in the morning of the body an head. Yes it is a single cone. If you don't mind look at my post about this tomorrow also when I have better quality pics

It's probably too young to be sure at this point, then. So far it looks like a pullet but silkies are very hard to sex and sometimes you can never be sure until it lays an egg.
