We are pretty new to chickens, we picked up or 5 hens back in November. We didn’t know much about them, so when the guy asked what kinds we wanted, we had no clue.

We got a blend, three of which were feathered; Red our RIR, Queen B the Black Sexlink, and an Cheeks the Ameraucana.


The other two were fresh hatchlings, Buff Orpingtons(Buffy) and a White Leghorn (Fanny Foghorn).


Our favorite thing about having back yard chickens would have to be how great they are as pets. They love hanging out with us in the yard.


My wife and I have two toddlers, and our first baby, Winston( 9 yo Boston Terrior).


We found out about BYC from doing research about how to care for the chickens. Ultimately, I started researching coops and started a build that we thought would be worth sharing, so I joined. Let’s se if I can share it now.
