(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've helped with chickens throughout my life. We got our first personal chickens in 2020. Recently moved to Alaska and just started our new flock here!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We started with 12 chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Gold Star, 2 Blue Star, 2 Easter Egger, 3 Cuckoo Marans, 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Honestly, I just enjoy having them around. Of course, the eggs and meat they provide are great, but I like to let them free range and watch them, socialize with them, and I'm interested in starting my own breeding program.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We enjoy outdoor activities, and I started gardening last year.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My boyfriend and I moved to Alaska in 2022. I am a registered nurse at the local hospital. We have 2 australian shepherds and one mutt (truly no idea what breeds) that is diabetic.
I have read a lot of the threads on here already and am excited to join!
