My wife and I reside in middle TN and have been trying our hand with chickens for 2 years now. We currently have 3 red Orpingtons, a rooster and 2 hens and love them. The rooster aka Chuck Norris loves my wife and is insanely protective of her. He doesn't even allow me in the pen when she's in there. Luckily, the ladies love me (only took me 46 years to be able to say that truthfully). Anyway, hopefully I'll gain much knowledge from Backyard Chickens to help us in the future. Glad to be here. Added a couple pics, 1st is Chuck and his lady aka my wife and the 2nd is one of the girls.

Glad you're here Mctpk!

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!
Chuck Norris is such a cute name! Lol, Cluck Norris might have been funnier!
