Biggest priority is to get going on the coop because you will need it soon. As others have said, lots of ventilation is needed.
Don’t worry, once things settle down you will get loads of pleasure from your flock and there are loads of folk here who can answer questions along the way.
 
I'd check out Hoop Coops and Open Air Coops. I did a green house covered run open air coop combo, and it's worked out well. I have similar temps to you (north alabama). We even weathered the -9F unseasonably cold weather well in the open air coop/run with just a touch of frostbite on my rooster's comb. I have been building an actual coop, but not sure I really need it. The Articles section is great. Have fun!!!
