I work in an elementary school where a teacher incubated and hatched chicks from her dads chicken farm, all differnt moms? and was going to cull these due to crooked and deforemd feet. Knowing nothing about chickens, i naturally stepped in. I am in love with my babies. They have moved from inside brooder to outside , in small coop whilst my Hubby is building wonderful coop with run. I think 2 are roosters. No idea. 5 weeks after I got these 6, i bought 5 more week old chicks. I think those are "Dominickers" black barred , three of them and growing as big as the older chicks.( Seperate cage). 2 are smaller with reddish color. No idea which are hens and which are roosters. Any suggestions or tips welcomed..New Mom Maggie

Thank you. I can take some better , clearer pics tomorrow. I just figured out how to post. It took me forever! Also , I learned everything on how to care for them from this forum. Priceless. I have two small coops outside and Big D is building and awesome one for all my babies. I have one group of 5 that are about 6 wks and one group of 6 which are 18 wks. Deformed legs, and i think two are roosters. I let them go out for a walk in the grass while cleaning coop and 2 began to fly at each other and show out a bit. They all sleep together and are very peacable inside the coop however...

I think they are all mixed breeds. The last one looks like it has some speckled sussex in it. Not sure on the others. Red earlobes indicate brown egg layers. First and last are pullets, not sure on the other pic.

Okay this is an Update..Here are my chicks ,,,Hope these pictures will help you identify for me gender and or sex. Please talk to me about mold . I noticed some beneath the temporary coops.

Again I have 6 17 week old chicks that I have no idea what they are, and 5 that are 6 weeks old. Two of those are rust colored and three are supposedly balck Dominickers. Help greatly appreciated. I have rheumatoid Arthitis and i have sole responsibilty. I had an ER visit today and came home to find my babies overheated. I gave them fresh water etc and then got yelled at by the family who don't want me to overdue but no one wants to care about my babies but me. Boo hoo. I just love them. Any way I am soo new on here so any help in identifying is appreciated.

Little barn yard mixes. I see an Ameraucana mix I do believe..maybe a RIR mix..speckled something ornother..

Number 2 and 4 look like roos to me. Probably the ones that were sparring? If the black and white ones have rose combs, they are Dominiques. Some of them look a bit like Speckled Sussex to me, and some look to have Rhode Island red in them. Beautiful birds!

not the greatest on sexes, i will leave comment to others, most are mixes, yes Ameruacana (so EE's) Black and white ones look very much like Plymouth Barred rocks, the last 4 pictures have RIR's in them too. Loks like speckled sussex in there.

I too learned an awful lot off of here, i am sure you have read, however remember that 1 roo to about 10 pullets to keep the peace.

The barred ones are dominiques, based on rose combs. Barred rocks have single combs.

The last picture looks like a brown leghorn. The rest are barnyard mixes, probably with some brown leghorn, Rhode Island red, speckled sussex, and no clue what. I'm not seeing any signs of Easter Eggers in there. No pea combs, no muffs and beards, no green legs.

I'm having a hard time guessing on gender. All but the doms are 17 weeks old? That would make the doms 12 weeks old? Were the doms straight run or sexed as pullets?

Here's my GUESSES... I'm really not sure on most of them.
