New to this- Is this a sound a young hen would make?

Anyone have any idea if this is a hen sound or early rooster crow?

No, that is the best I have. The chicken is about 10 weeks old, just still not sure if it is rooster.

We are new at this, how can you tell? We have seen several Rhode Island Reds, the roosters appear to be bigger.

I've not had a rooster. My hens make that noise.

Looks like an awfully big comb for a 10 week old.

Big comb and defined wattles. Hens DO make that sound when they're going to lay. Hens don't lay at 10 weeks. Rooster make that sound when they're upset.

Both my hens and my roos do that noise...
The hens do it when they are stressed or after they lay eggs and my roos do it when they are upset or stressed

big comb and wattles along with age of 10 weeks and he's that red in the face in all point towards a cockerel
