Hello everyone. This is our first adventure into chicken life. My wife said she was out on this one, so it's just myself and our 6 year old daughter. We'll bring her (mom) around to this adventure before long. Looking forward to lots of good times and great advice.

Oh, once she sees how fun chickens can be, she will come around. They can be very affectionate, docile, friendly and some are great lap sitters! Just like drooling puppies looking for love.

Definitely stop by our learning center here on BYC for some great tips and hints on raising your new brood.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! If the cute friendly chickens don't convince her, those nice fresh eggs will! Have fun with your chicken adventure.
 
She said this morning that she's afraid to get attached to something so small and cute that might die before its grown. Did get her told hold one!

Welcome to BYC!! Quite understandable about her feelings. It hurts to lose them. But it is so rewarding to see them hatch and grow, and develop their own personalities.
And a chicken project with your 6 yr old daughter is an excellent tool in learning! We didn't have the option for BYC when my kids were tots, but it might have been great for them.

ps...I bet the wife will come 'round when she starts seeing them on a daily basis

Welcome to BYC! Bet your wife will come around quick enough once she sees how much fun and interesting it is to have birds. Seeing their growth and discovering the different personalities develop is very rewarding. Enjoy yourselves!
