Hello everyone

I am recently new to turkeys. I have 4 royal palm poults and 3 eastern wild hens. This weekend I purchased a narragansett Tom. This is my first adult Tom. He is doing fine. My question is regarding some of his behavior. At times he will squat and begin stomping his feet. Is this a sign of aggresion? What should I look for if he is going to try and attack? Thanks for the help

No he is mating with himself also helps him attract hens if there is any around.

Well he'll start making a heckling noise and staring at you then he'll start sizing you up with his neck stretched way out and he'll be puffed up not strutting but feathers puffed up and then when he gets close he'll jump up to spur you and before he does that you want to attack him with a stick (not beating him) but showing him you are not afraid and that you are boss, this will last about a day or so and then should respect that you are boss, most of the time.

Thanks for the help. I am still trying to learn his body language.

CGTS! I am new to turkeys too and just love them!

Enjoy!

I don't know if you are aware but if you breed Royal Palms to Eastern Wilds they produce Narragansetts.
