I am new to owning chickens and would appreciate any help. One of my Silkies (2 weeks old) has a water eye that's irritated and a little red. I can tell its really bothering the chick because it keeps scratching at it. All around the eye the feather are all matted down from the little bit of fluid that is coming from it and I think that's why the chick keeps scratching at it. The fluid is not Pusey though. Its clear fluid. I've been wetting the eye with warm water to give it relief and that does seem to give the chick some relief for a little while. Thank goodness the chick is eating and drinking regularly. I have 8 other chicks with this silkie and they are all doing fine and don't have this problem. What else can I do to make this chick feel better and get rid of what ever it's has?

when my birds get eye issues I use colloidal silver. you can get it at Any Heath food store. its all natural and works as a antibiotic and astringent. I get the bottle with 500 ppm or parts per million of silver in it. it is gentle and works very well! the dose is two drops directly into the eye twice a day. its safe for chicks and natural too. I have had good luck using it on my flock for eye irritations. the Heath food store sells it in different ppms.parts per million of silver . make sure you get the 500 ppm. its stronger. I like using it because its safe and natural. its always worked well for me. you might want to give it a try. hope this helps and wish you the best of luck and hope her eye heals soon. best wishes also I want to welcome you to the site!
