Hello,
I remember taking care of chickens that belonged to my great grandparents growing up, so now that my husband and I have some land and time we have decided to start getting a few animals for our farm. For me, chickens were high on the list. We have two sons, 6 and 2yrs old. We have our first set of fertile eggs incubating right now, they are due to hatch tomorrow. I've been reading through the forums and everything else I can get my hands on for a couple of months getting ready. The boys have enjoyed this whole process so much. We started with eight chicken eggs total. Five of those developed and we are hoping will hatch. We have one dog (less than 1yr old mixed breed), 1 cat (9yrs old bombay), and one rabbit (2yrs old dwarf). I'm interested in anything to do with sustainable farming, and how to use those kind of experiences to bring our family closer and teach our children about life. If you have any questions ask, and any advice on hatching and care of newly hatched chicks is welcome. *crossing my fingers*
