Hey y'all I'm new to chickens, though not new to the farming aspect... I've just recently started raising my girls, I have 4 girls that are almost coop ready! My biggest question is how to know when it's time to put them in tbeor coop?

General rule of thumb is when they are fully feathered but it also depends on your climate. You might want to Find Your State Thread and pop in, say hello and get some advice.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

There is no set age as to when your chicks will be ready to move to the coop. It depends on your breeds/how well feathered they are and also your area/temperature. As a guide, I raise mine in a brooder with a heat plate in an outside shed so they get used to the outside temperatures. That does mean they tend to feather out reasonably quickly and generally stop using the heat plate completely by 7 weeks, at which point I move them to the chick pen. We had quite a lot of snow a couple of weeks back and my 8 week old chicks were fine in the coop & run without their heat plate. I hope this helps.
