New watering system

I changed from traditional waters to horizontal water nipples and they seem not to be getting enough water or any water. What can I do, I don't want them to be dehydrated.I ended up puting one 1gallon water down for them to help the ones who are not getting much or any water.Ido have 15 chicks also teying to use them. I initially bought them to have cleaner water and to save water.Please share all tips or opinions on what I can do.

do they know how to use it? After showing mine how to use it with my finger, they got it down very quickly and have no problem drinking from it. They should just get more water if they need it, but some of the older ones, or the ones lacking in the brain department, may be a bit stubborn with changing to it. I would leave in the other waterer that you have for another week but take it out for a couple hours every day and gradually extend that time so that they will have to use the nipples.

If you supplement the water they will never learn. Being thirsty is a good trainer. When 1 figures it out the rest will follow suit quickly.

Were the birds shown how to use the waterer and have you seen them using it?

There's a difference between "getting no water" and "I think they're not getting enough." Did you actually test the nipples (with lid on, because a vacuum forming is a common issue and an air hole should be added if there isn't one)? If the nipples are working what makes you think they're dehydrated?
