No broody's right now. I have 1 hen with chicks and the others are either playing hide and seek the eggs or holding out. They where laying great just a few days ago and now I hardly get anything. I had some splash eggs up for BIN but got no takers. I have a dozen that I'm about to toss in the trash. I'm not hatching any right now.

I wish I was a little more solvent right now. My friend in Portland, TN is wanting a splash silky hen. She has a Sportsman incubator. I would give her pick of the lot for hatching for me.

I'd rather have sold them. It's more of a waste for them not to sell because I just buy feed for all my chickens with the $$ the eggs bring in. I'll probably boil them up and go ahead and feed them to the girls tomorrow. Helps with the feed bill.

For the record, emvickrey, I'd kill for your splash silkie eggs lol. Sadly, we're in a tight spot financially at the moment and DH has banned my egg-buying until next month at the earliest after the big bills are paid off. Good thing he's in charge. I'd totally buy the eggs first.

I have a freshly made huge batch of apple butter. This batch was made the old fashioned way. In a large copper kettle over an open flame, stirred all day by me and the kids. This has turned out to be the best flavored yet. Mostly used my Grimes and Golden apples with just enough Winesap apples to lower the amount of sugar needed. This is cinnamon flavored. I ended up with over 80 pints. More than my family can consume even in a good year. I also have just finished processing my hickory nuts into hickory nut syrup. Again, a bumper crop this year made me hickory syrup rich(if only it were money. lol)This syrup is the absolute best for french toast but also good for glazing ham or as a base for a fantastic BBQ sauce. I use it in place of maple syrup. I have pints and quarts. I would love to share any of my canned goods which include grape jelly(from my grapes) peach jam and jelly, wild violet jelly, applesauce, apple pie filling, spiced peaches, red raspberry jelly (from wild berries=much sweeter imo)

e duck eggs. Would prefer blue swedish but not real picky. I am up to trade almost anything. I have tons of other stuff (not food related) just let me know

Shannon, are you claiming something from Penny or are you just introducing yourself? The way the swap works is in a chain where you claim something that has been offered in the previous post and then offer what you have, then someone else claims from you and offers something that they have to swap.
