New Year Block swap

@FeyRaine you are so complimentary but I'm afraid you ahev me confused with someone else. Perhaps the very talented @Kassaundra ? I haven't done a sample quilt of blocks or a reversible but i know she has.

Ooops my mistake, the samples were by Coldupnorth! another one of our talented crew of swappers.

As to the issue of to add blue or not to add blue, I'm going to go w/ adding blue :)
thanks for the feedback every one, I do think it will work and make my block choice easier to select w/ 5 colors.
I hadn't given it much thought when I picked the original 4 fabrics, but after spending several weeks looking at quilts & blocks online the idea of odd #s of colors per block is reminding me that somewhere back in an art class or some such that fits into some sort of graphic design rules.

Speaking of which this used book I picked up for $2. in trade credit is _really_ great! Tittled Scraps, Blocks & Quilts by Judy Martin. The cat & I spent a couple hrs w/ it & a cup of tea last night and I had a bunch of ah ha moments, there are full color pictures side by side of the same block done in 2 or even 3 color plans where you have to really look hard to believe it IS the same block. Just amazing. It is really helping me understand what I like & dislike in certain quilts, and giving me many ideas on where I want to go in my future quilts. If any of you happen on a copy of this book (from 1990) it is just a little softcover not even half inch thick but it has so much in this one book it is well worth getting. I have several other quilting books but none this good by far.

I hope you love it as much as I do. I think it has enough info I could quilt just from that book for a decade w/o exactly copying anything in the book and w/o getting bored at all.
It is funny b/c I "splurged" & got the other book for $6 in trade credit, it is 2x as thick but one time looking through it at home and I'm not even sure why I got it. From the Judy Martin book I have at least 4 quilts I'm wanting to create rattling in my head already, plus I feel like I really am starting to "get it" on many of the design issues , color value, etc. from seeing examples pictured in this book. Also I like her tone, the book interviews a buch of famous/award winning quilters about their styles etc. (w/ color pics so you can actually see what they are on about), but Judy Martin makes a point to use what they say not to copy it, but to find your own personal tastes/style and make the quilts YOU will love. So it isn't a "do this or you're wrong" book), its is a here is info. to help you achieve what you intend to create, go for it!
