New Year Block swap

I'm here. And thanks for the fabric washing confessions. I really did need to start over. Batik fabrics are known for bleed/shrink. Anyway. Fabric purchased and washed.Just a bit of detergent. Ready to sew tonight after work.
Christmas ans New Years were drama free. Just the way we like them. Had some fun with the grand kids and my darling man. Starting NY Eve and into NY Day we watch the LotL trilogy. It's a marathon that we never seem to tire of. Me and the darling man, not the grandkids, that is.
I have finished my mug rug. Now I can't find it! Dont' worry @keepmumsane I'll find it quick or make another.

@ginbart & FeyRaine how did you two do in the NYDH? Who was the winner what time did the peeper show up?

Saddly I only got 1 shipped egg to assisted hatch, while 4 others which were alive at (late) LD died after internal pip --2 piped through veins & 2 apparently could not reach the shell to external pip, I believe this was due to a combination of really wonky shipped air cells & a cold snap that had our house heatpump running suddenly all the time messing w/ temp/humidity/air pressure in the house at just the critically wrong moment , my cousin spent a fortune to gift me these eggs so I'm feeling bad 2x on these. Also, the one that did hatch was marked CL? , blue egg, the breeder was out of town & apparently the farmsitter mixed some BAM & CL eggs, but frankly this chick doesn't look like either to me so I'm not sure what I have. I did get 1 CLx who will be an OE from my eggs so there are 2 buddies. I need to set up a very small in house brooder today for them I don't think they would stay warm the first wk or so in the bigger brooder I was planning to use(set 49 eggs, LD on 13).

I'm still in for the block swap, but I'll be a few after the weekend to finish. I'm going to use a spray bottle of hot water to fake steam w/ my half dead iron. w/o steam it isn't pressing out the minor post wash wrinkles well enough for perfect cutting. Also I'm not going to do the Saw Tooth Block w/ its more difficult (I've never done them before equilateral triangles) , instead I'll stick more in my comfort zone w/ the Ohio Star variation so the blocks will piece a little faster. So I'm in if ya'll are ok w/ me not mailing until sometime mid-end of next week...

HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF, that is the best news I've had all week!!!

Ok, back to getting the assisted chick #15 to understand what to eat & drink...

FeyRaine sorry to hear about your chicks, post pics we love to see babies, Jan 15th is the ship by date but if someone needs more time we always give it to them, we know how life can be.
I know how sewing messes and visitors don't mix, my hubby cleared some of my stuff for me, couldn't wait for me to do it was trying to be helpful, now I can't find anything, I take over the den with my sewing since it is just me and I have the tv and all creature comforts and he rearranged the den and has my system all messed up, but that is ok I'm getting it back to pre holiday DH ness.

I feel right at home, I think block swap deadlines are always prone to sneaking up on a person....

Thats a real shame about your hatching feyraine, so much anticipation for a frustrating result.

I am going to pop what I hope are our first batch of home grown fertilised quail eggs in our incubator. No idea how that'll work out..but only 17 days to wait.

Weather outside condusive to being inside today. Shall clear table and sew like the wind!

It takes such a long time to get into the swing of things once they have been moved and not to mention trying to find anything, oh well, let us know how the quail eggs do, so what is your temp in New Zealand? We are going for the low of 27 tonight but we get colder over the next two day actually in the teens, I though of moving to Arizona or some place like that but they get cold too, Have I mentioned I wish I was a bear , I'd be in my den all snug as a bug. Heat just doesn't bother me it can be a hundred and I'm ok with that just don't put me anywhere cold, I don't even like to wash my hands in cold water or brush my teeth in cold for that matter. Sure wish my leg warmers would hurry up and get here, yep I found some and bought some. DH says I need to go back to the 80's. I'm doing a mini quilt and working on my blocks alternating tasks.

-10 wow and snow I didn't know it would snow when it was that cold, I always was told it needed to be a little warm for that, well learn something new every day. My banny roo's are roosting in the trees but my hen came onto the back porch, she is now in the bathroom, the LF birds go into their house but the bannies never have gone into their house.
