New!!!

It's the Cornish X/Cornish Crosses that get problems. Regular Cornish should be ok, just don't expect more than 2 eggs a week. But if she didn't know that Cornish are not good egg layers she probably wouldn't know if they were Cornish or Cornish crosses. If they grow a lot faster than the Barred Rocks then they probably unfortunately are Cornish crosses. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/standard-cornish-vs-cornish-x.299177/
Well shucks. They are crossed with the barred rocks. My husband went to the store yesterday.

No this isn't correct.
The Cornish X(Cross) is the white meat bird ones you have.

The black ones are Barred Rocks. (most likely but they could be a different barred breed)

@bantamsrmyfav was meaning that IF your white birds were just Cornish...not Cornish Cross...those are two different things...that the "regular" (just) Cornish would be ok and lay a few eggs.

You do not (I am almost 100% positive) have regular (just) Cornish...you have Cornish X (Cornish Cross) meat birds.

Cornish birds are not good egg layers at all! Their purpose is for meat. They have a short lifespan of 6 months to 3 years. The black chicks are barred rocks and they lay around 280 eggs per year and have a lifespan of 8 to 10 years!
