Hi! Not only am I new here but also new to raising chicks/chickens. My husbands grandpa raised them, but my husband was a little guy and my moms dad raised them. My dad and step mom have a few (but I haven’t seen them for like 6 years now). But with all that said, I still feel like we are new to all this. I found this place while trying to find out information about the girls (maybe a boy or so). We ordered 15 and received 18. We got them from Cackle Hatchery.
My husband and I have 6 kiddos. 5 girls and the newest a boy. So yes a lot of kids and though I love kids and would love more, not the best idea. So my chickens will be added kids. We also have a Rottweiler and a Husky. We just purchased property in the country, which around here is hard to do because everyone is handed property from family in the country. I have always wanted chickens and have finally been able to.
I have no idea what chickens we have or the breeds, let alone male or female. I ordered females but I know they only guarantee 90% accuracy. We are anticipating at least 3 males. I received them May 27th. They will be 2 weeks old (according to their hatch date) on Wednesday the 8th. There is a really large variety of them. Which with reviews sometimes the variety is limited to 2 or 3.
I attached a few pics of some of them. I took them outside yesterday for just a few. The weather was so nice and warm. I couldn’t not take them out….and my husband is making me a flower bed and since it is enclosed and hasn’t been filled with dirt thought it would help keep the little ones from running or flying off. The first pic is when we first got them.
