Wow! So you've got a busy schedule. At least with chickens, they don't need your constant attention or affection as a dog would. My oldest son (13) has development delaysThey are! It’s getting to be more work. As my oldest is 14 with Down syndrome. And she has been doing cheerleading in her school. The little guy is 2. All of them love the chicks! More hands to help with them. Of course the little guy will need to be older to do certain things but he is always trying to help.
My girl with DS isn’t a REAL big pet person either. Right now they are cute cause they are little. I’m not sure how she will feel about them when they get older. She surprises me all the time. She is part of the special education co-operative and not in a “regular classroom” settings. So she gets extra help with life skills but I really think the move to the country and obtaining chickens and probably future live stock will help her. She can only help with the dogs so much. But with chickens I think she might like feeding them and collecting eggs. However, if one chances her it’s all over.Wow! So you've got a busy schedule. Maybe when your little guy gets a little older, he will enjoy collecting the eggs for you.
