from Ohio. Sorry to hear about your hens. Since we don't know the severity of the wound, it's hard to say. Can you just put some nerosporin on it and wrap a cloth bandage around her? I hope they will be OK.

Welcome to the pages of BYC!! Sorry to hear about your hens...try cleaning th wounds and applying som bacitracin or neosporin ointment to stem any infection. Then keep them warm and dry while offering food and water. You may need to give pedialyte to increase electolytes and prevent dehydration. Good luck to you and them!!

from UT! Glad you joined us (but wish it was under better circumstances). I hope your hens make a full recovery! If you try posting in the emergency section, more people might be able to help. Good luck!

I joined this forum after a similar circumstance. Clip away the feathers from around the wound and put some neosporin ointment directly on/in them. Make sure it is the neosporin WITHOUT painkiller. You will be amazed at how fast the wounds heal. Right now treating shock and hydration the most important hurdle to overcome. I used miller moths to encourage eating, but this time of year you may need mealworms. Good luck.
