We became farmers only 18 weeks ago, and the learning curve has been steep.

We are now foraying into the world of poultry! I am delighted to find this site.
We are in the midst of building a "chicken tractor" - it's coming along, I will see if I can get some photos.
We live in Ontario Canada, and need to think about the dreaded white stuff - would love suggestions on how to winterize things. We have also jumped into the world of Highland Cows with two feet, and are the proud owners of two livestock guardian dogs.

I will now go dig around the forum and learn some more!

Hello from Central NY!

I love Highland Cattle! Post pics when you get the chance! Winterizing is pretty simple...we will spoil our chickens with a heat lamp, but you will find a lot of people choose nothing but a shelter and a light (to supplement daylight for their layers). I will put a stack of hay next to the building for insulation also. If you have breeds with tall combs, consider they are prone to frostbite. Good luck!
