Newbie and not cyber savvy

:welcome so glad you have joined us.

It must be difficult with the "import" restrictions there, not only to care for you flock, but for you as well.

I envy your lack of predators, but would never be able to deal with not being able to simply drive to a store for things you need. :thHow do you plan for possible lack of water or food items?

I have learned and still learning the jargon ;). When someone posts something you don't understand, just ask....you'll find folks here friendly and helpful :)

Hi ,
We rely on tank water, 7F90654C-DFA8-4900-A7AF-0EE0F19D2D76.jpeg which is great when it rains. We have a large roof space on our house which helps. You learn to be really thrifty with water. The water run off from my washing machine (grey water we call it) is piped down to my banana trees for example. Short showers, save dish water for garden, thick mulch on garden beds, that sort of thing. Some properties have bore water, but the council stopped people from creating new bores some years ago to protect what water there is.
We often buy bulk at the one small supermarket, milk is UHT carton off the shelf(took me a while to get used to that one) . Fresh milk is available when the planes come in but usually only the tourists buy it because it’s something like $9 AU Ltr. The ship usually comes once a month, if there’s no potatoes then so be it. You just learn to adapt to what you can grow or get seasonally.
On the up side everything grown here is organic and has real flavour, it might not look so pretty tho. We leave the keys in the car and even our wallets and purses when we go down to the beach or park anywhere. It’s the custom to wave to everyone you drive past too.
I live on Norfolk Island.
I love the little icons you’re all using by the way gotta learn that one lol.
