Newbie from downunder

Hi all,
Just signed up after weeks of stalking incubating threads to learn more, have had chickens and guinea fowls for most of my life and I'm no spring chicken so thats a long time!
Currently have a few Belgian D'uccle chicks in brooder and about 22 older mixed breed chooks. I also have sheep, cows, 3 poddy calves atm, dogs and cats.
I had a really disappointing hatch of 4 out of 27 eggs then had more shipped and got 4 out of 44 and only 2 of them surviving so far so searched for answers and ended up here.
Very grateful to find such a wonderful community of chicken lovers.

I’m learning myself that shipped eggs can be a pain most of the time. Sorry to hear about your hatches but with everyone here I’m sure we can help you get it figured out. What kind of incubator are you using.

Hello, and welcome! Next time that you decide to try doing another hatch, you might want to join one of the Hatch-a-long's. People help each other through the hatches there in those.

What's a 'poddy calf'?

Typically it is a hand reared calf wheather it lost its mom or whatever the case may be but OP could mean something else
