Greetings fellow chicken enthusiasts

I have kept chickens in the past, but haven’t for the last few years.
We just bought our own home, so of course the first thing I do is start looking for hens. I couldn’t find any I wanted within easy driving range, so decided to go the incubator route.

Currently, my count is 16 chicks - hatched over the last 46hrs. They are a mix of Australorps, Wyandottes and Dorking.

BYC came up as a resource when I was searching how to incubate chicks. I have garnered much information from here, and decided to join.

At the moment I have three major projects on the go - creating a permaculture forest in our yard, raising my chicks, and sorting all the boxes that seem to be multiplying in my home!

I am recently re-married, and between us we have five children, all have left home. Four boys and one girl - who is currently on her OE. We have three cats and a dog, I am a home maker now, having chronic pain from a broken ankle 20 months ago.

Well, that’s me in a nut shell, I look forward to meeting some of you over the next few months.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you're here!

Sounds like you've had an exciting and rewarding last two days. There's nothing quite like it when those chicks start hatching. You've done everything right -- you think... you hope! And then the payoff comes and you have chicks! I'm happy for you!
