Newbie from Scotland!

Well that's 5 total that's hatched one is struggling to come out the small end and another has pipped. Not bad for the 8 eggs I could tell were fertile on day 18. I left the other 10 eggs in incubator incase I missed one :) proud mummy today. Any advice with the one struggling would be brill. 24hrs shes been trying for.

This is a great and very informative article:

5 (maybe 6) chicks is a great hatch for a newbie- well done!

Well that's 7 now. The one I helped has a bit of sack trailing behind it I hope it dries up but it looking good today up on its feet and cheeping away nicely. As I was in the incubator I took the opportunity to remove the 5 and pop them into brooder as they were pecking (peewee) the one I helped sac and thought he needed to rest and absorb as much as he could. And today there is hope. Also number 8 has pipped!
Thank you for your info ;) x

Woohoo! :weee

Another update "peewee" number 6 is alive but very weak. "Lucky" number 7 is great and seems healthy but number 8 is alert and seems well it just has curled toes and poss splayed legs. Fingers crossed I can help the wee thing. It's a wee shame :(

Peewee died :( But as for number 8 feet are perfect! No issues with legs. The 7 are all healthy wee fluff balls :) so cute. They love playing with a plastic staw and a bottle top I popped in to keep them amused ;)

Hi iv been wondering about putting a chicken in the stable ( in a seperate enclosed run) with my 5 wk old chicks as a role model.

Iv noticed they mainly feed and drink when I'm with them and they follow me when I leave :(

I have 2 broodie adult hens. Or would you choose the lowest on the pecking order?

Just a thought. I might be silly thinking it might help their confidence.

Any advice welcome :)
