Newbie from SW Ohio

I'm very excited to have joined the site after having trolled it for weeks to get info on starting my flock. I am a farmboy who left his roots and is trying to get back in anyway possible. I only have an acre but there is an old tobacco barn on it that is just screaming to become my coop. The plan is to sell enough eggs to offset feed costs, allowing me to work on breeding small flocks of Buckeyes and Golden Campines. You know the guy that just has to have something different than everyone else? Yep that's me. I love this site

I appreciate the warm welcome. My first batch of chicks are ordered. Campines, silver & white leghorns, and Minorcas. Should arrive around the 17th of June. The work on the barn has begun. My work is cut out for me as the previous owner used the barn ( inside and out) as a dumping ground. Right now most of my time is being devoted to chopping through a jungle of poison ivy, and dragging out junk metal, wood, plastic, etc. I'm trying to salvage what I can, waste not want not, right?!
