Newbie from Tennessee.

Thanks:) I took a look at your profile and I just want to say that I hope you get well from the seizures and that I will pray for you.

Hello all,
I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for the warm welcome I have already received.  I am a beginning caretaker of Guinea fowl and am hoping to start a small flock of chickens very soon.  Any advice from seasoned veterans (and fellow newbies who have some tricks up their sleeves) is very welcome.
I live in the Nashville TN area and if you couldn't tell, my username is a pun. (A crime most foul... a crime most fowl, see what I did there? Genius people! Genius!) :)

Thanks,
A crime most...

P.s if the username is lame I might consider changing it. Thanks

It all depends on what you are looking for when it comes to chicken's. Egg basket like this photo

Or if you want them for egg production, dual purpose, if you have lot's of land and want them to be great at foraging?
Or if you want a variety of ok egg production, broody hen's.. Lot's to consider.. We really love our duck's.. The breed we have that is laying has been laying egg's on a steady basis is silver Swedish breed.. They are just the best pet.. We just added to our duck flock for more egg's and for our drake, Rick. He need's more girl's durring mating season.. We live in the middle of a major metropolitan city.. Our neighbors love visiting and hearing the duck's.. Well, & their farm fresh egg's. Our new one muscovy's are quiet, but they will eat small rodents.. However we don't have those here.. But at our retirement home, for later down the road there are more wild life like rodents for them.. Chicken's only live about 5 year's our duck's will be with us for 10 plus..

Once you have your user name, it is best to keep it..
You will love all of the information this wonderful site provides, I'm sure your state has a thread of it's own.. We have meet great people on here.
We often get together for potluck's & seed a exchange, or we are right there for eachother to help with emergency's.. Kept us posted on what you get!!

Thanks for the info. :) Right now I'm planning on getting a Buff Orpington, a Welsummer, an Ameraucana and a gold or silver laced Wyandotte. I mainly want eggs and good personality as well as hardiness and good foraging capabilities. I might post some pictures of the chicks when I hopefully get them.
