Welcome to BYC! Most parrots are honestly a lifetime commitment, so do your research well. The more talkative they are the more toys and stimulation they will need too. In terms of the dogs best advice I can give is to get regular vet checkups to catch those problems early. Joint supplements such as glucosamine, chondroitin, msm, and hyaluronic acid can help with the hip dysplasia, and also make sure to keep them trim and a healthy weight. Obesity can very easily trigger many of those issues.
