Newbie Hatching Thread!

It really does! I have to be even more patient, and not open the incubator 'till the remaining eggs hatch! Its tough to resist two cute peeping faces staring at you pathetically when you walk by, just begging to be held!

What are you hatching, Meshellrose?

I'm hatching silkies and one lonely lakenvelder..had 15 eggs, but only 1 was fertile

Congrats on the two that are allready out.

for healty chicks .

Now four chicks are out- I woke up to louder peeps, and two more Brahmas! One egg is left, but I don't see signs of pips or cracks, but the pip may have rolled over when the chicks were scrambling around inside the incubator. Any hope it's still alive?
I might leave egg and chicks in the incubator until tonight, then I'll take chicks out.
I'm afraid of shrink-wrapping the egg that's left- if I squirted it with warm water, or wrapped part of it in a damp paper towel while I take other chicks out, do you think it would still be okay? I don't know if the chick in side is alive or not- any peeping would be drowned out by the others peeping. Advice?

The little chicks can go without food or water for 48 hours after that you'll have to remove them.

I don't now about the schrinkwraping, But i think if you can be realy fast with covering it with a warm damp cloth that would be the best and i would spray warm water in de incubator befor removing the cloth and clossing the incubator agian.

I wish you a lott of luck and i'll keep my fingers crossed for you and the last egg.

We took the four chicks out early this morning, but I don't think that last egg is still alive. It's still in the incubator, but nothing has happened, so I don't think it'll hatch.

I still have four cute little chicks in a box in out basement! The Polish chick is quite outspoken when I pick it up, but the three Brahmas are pretty chill, and like clambering over my hands! One Brahma is very light colored for a buff Brahma chick, just like his dad was as a chick. Did I somehow end up with a 'sex-linked' bantam Brahma? I hope not! I'll have to download pictures of all the chicks, as well as my Brahma rooster, so anyone can see how similar the rooster and his children look!
