Hi, when we had a little farm in central FL fire ants were part of the landscape. My flock never ate them that I observed. We were not able to complete obliterate them but managed to keep them out of areas like our garden and chicken run by adding Dawn detergent to big pots of boiling water and dumping that directly onto their mound. That would kill some and the rest would relocate to a different area.

We didn't want to use a commercial poison because of the risk of our animals getting into it. There may be newer pesticides or methods available now that weren't at our disposal 10 years ago.

Good luck!
