Newbie here from Western Pa.

You should get outstanding egg production from the sex links and the Black Australorp. And the Barred Rocks & Speckled Sussex are wonderful layers.
So one of each of those would be ok for a flock I don't need to have two of the same I can just mix and match.

Thanks To everyone for the warm welcome any tips and suggestions would be great, I will be ordering my Chicks tomorrow and still undecided on what to get, although I love NorthFl CHicks suggestions.

here is my list of chicks to chose from any suggestions would be great, I can only get four for now but would like good friendly layers.
Red Sexlinks, Black Sexlinks, RI Reds, Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, Welsummer, Speckled Sussex, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Black Australorp, White Leghorn, Brown Leghorn, Light Brahma.

Thanks For the help Tom

If I were choosing four from your list I would go with the Black Sex Links, Black Australorps, Buff Orpingtons, and Speckled Sussex. Light Brahmas would be a strong 5th consideration.
