Start by figuring out how many chickens you want to keep and then plan for housing twice that number. Like it or not, chickens are addicting and chicken math is a real thing.
Then visit the Coop and Run Forum to determine how to properly design and size your coop and run so that your birds will be healthy and you will enjoy the process of taking care of them instead of viewing it as drudgery.
